- Bella, 2-3 years old, Shetland filly. Friendly, inquisitive but also shy and introverted. Needs time to build trust. Gets Qld itch, which can be controlled with rugging. A serious cutie. Gets on well with all horses and doesn’t cause conflict. Would make great companion pony for another horse and valued family member but probably too nervous to be a ‘bombproof’ kids pony. Fostering in Blackbutt.
- Jimmy, 22yo TB gelding, beautiful boy who has recently had to have an eye removed due to severe ulceration after an injury. Settling back into life well. Fostering on the Gold Coast.
- Gypsy, (Not For Adoption) 29 y.o. stockhorse mare, one eye but otherwise healthy. Gypsy is our permanent resident. We’ve committed to helping Gypsy live out her days with security, love and care. You can sponsor Gypsy for yourself or as a gift. See our ‘Sponsorships’ page :)
- Tansy. 11y.o. TB mare, ex racehorse. Smart horse and someone’s put some good work into her. Has ‘gear’ sensitivities. Needs a considerate and thoughtful human partner. Neglected parrot mouth means she will need considered dental care every six months. Would really shine with someone who will form a strong bond with her. Fostering in Blackbutt.
- **We are not taking applications for Bojangles right now** Bojangles, born approx 10th Aug 2011, only a day or so old when we rescued him from Beerburrum state forest where he’d been abandoned. Fostering in Samford. Bojangles with stay with us until he is weaned and gelded.
- Not for Adoption: This is Millie. She isn’t for adoption but she on loan to us and is in our care serving a really special role as Bojangles’ foster mare, teaching him to drink milk and socialise with horses. We cover the cost of Millie’s care while she’s with us so your support is greatfully accepted.
- Fraser, 7 mnth colt (will be gelded before leaving us), SB. Fostering in Samford.
- Holly, 16y.o. SB mare. Fostering in Samford.
- Grace. 7 y.o. TB mare, ex racehorse. She has a history of windsucking but has been improving of late with daily Parelli play. She is very, very clever and needs mental stimulation. She is suitable for a Parelli home only, no exceptions. Fostering on the Sunshine Coast.
If, on the other hand, you are experienced with horses, have the knowledge, abilities, practicalities, time and money, and you are motivated to give a horse a good home for life, then a rescue horse may just be for you.
If you have some knowledge of horses and don’t have a wish to ride one, but are willing to offer one a good home for life, then we can more than likely find you a suitable horse.
What is the process for adopting a horse?
It is a policy of this organisation that Charlie’s Angels Horse Rescue Inc. horses are adopted into forever homes. They have already been through too much to have them end up in the wrong hands again; therefore, a CAHR Inc. horse cannot ever be sold, given away, bred from, leased or in any other way passed on. Horses are only adopted on a “lifetime lease”. In other words, CAHR Inc. retains the ownership of the horse for life. If, for any reason, the adoption does not work out, the horse MUST be returned to CAHR Inc.
CAHR Inc. horses are microchipped and the registration remains with CAHR Inc. for life.
It is also a policy that the adopting person remains a financial member of CAHR Inc. for the duration of the life of the horse, and that they provide a brief yearly report and photograph of the horse.
Where do I have to live?
You must live in South-East Queensland to adopt or foster a horse. Our boundaries are from Hervey Bay, west to Kingaroy, out to Toowoomba, down to the Gold Coast, up through Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast (and everywhere in between!). Sometimes, we will make exceptions for northern NSW, depending on the case. We make a commitment to each and every horse to be responsible for them for life. If something goes wrong, we need to be able to get that horse back into our care, quickly and easily.
How much does it cost to adopt a horse?
The cost of adoption is $500 per horse.
- The cost of adoption contributes to the care the horse has received while in our custody, and undoubtedly won’t even reach the amount it cost us to feed them, worm them, float them, get their feet done, get veterinary attention and so on.
- We have set a straight adoption fee regardless of the horse’s size, abilities, colour, breed or temperament because we believe that all life is equally valuable.
- Discounts for multiple adoptions apply.

What guarantees do we give with an adopted horse?
Simply put, none. Horses are all very individual animals, with their own unique personalities, preferences, irritants and levels of trust. We can only present you with the information we have acquired over our time with the horse, but it is impossible for us to know the animal’s full (or true) history. When you adopt a CAHR Inc. horse, you do so with the same risk you would buying any horse.
However, we do guarantee that we will tell you everything we know, that we will do our best to work with you through any difficulties you might have, and we guarantee to take the horse back, no questions asked, if it doesn’t work out for you for any reason.
How do I apply to adopt a horse?
Please also note that we cannot “hold” a horse for you. If you are interested in adopting one of our horses, the only way you can ensure that adoption happens is to sign the adoption papers and pay the adoption fee. In the event that multiple people want to adopt the same horse, and all people are considered suitable to adopt that horse, then the person who gets the paperwork done the fastest will take home the horse.
Lastly, please also note that we are not horse dealers. That means we cannot search for and find you a horse that meets your specifications (breeding, age, colour etc.). If you want a specific type of horse, it is best to go to a breeder who can fulfill that wish.
We will not adopt a colt or stallion. All male horses will be gelded before they leave our organisation.
We always serve horses first, rather than people.
That means we take any horse that is in need whenever we are able to do so. We won’t pass over a horse in need just to find one that someone else might be interested in.
