A horse rescue update on Grace (6y.o. TB mare, ex racehorse, surrendered to Charlie’s Angels in November 2010).
Grace is doing really well. She’s finally putting on some great weight and her coat has really improved and her hooves are improving too. No more colic incidents since her first day here. She transitioned to stopping windsucking with the aid of a lot of kinesiology to help release emotional blocks (a treatment called Petnetics, practised by Lucy Gabrielle and Eileen McLean) and an O’Leary windsucking collar. We put the collar on her very loosely to begin with and gradually tightened it, allowing her time to adjust, self-monitor and slowly wean herself off the powerful addiction to endorphins (which they get when they windsuck).
Grace has chosen a new herd to run with and is now best mates with Lincoln, Tansy and Bella.
The next stage of Grace’s rehabilitation will see us start to exercise her and ride her.
Keep up the good work, Grace!
If you would like to help Grace continue her journey towards a loving forever home, you can donate now to buy her a bag of food ($49), vitamin supplements ($70) or hoof trimming ($50).
