Sign our Petition: Call for Pet Food Companies to Label Horse Meat

Sign Our Petition!!!

The pet food industry in Australia is a self-regulated one. Because the food is not fit for human consumption (which means that diseased, cancerousĀ and medicated animals go into it), there are no labelling laws that govern it.

Solomon, born Nov 2009, Standard Bred, colt

But we haveĀ  a right to know what is in pet food. If we want to make a conscious decision NOT to feed horse (or any other animal) to our pets, we need the companies to label their food. We all know that horses like two-month-old Solomon (recently rescued and in our care) end up in pet food, but not one company is brave enough to label it on their packaging.

We have begun contacting pet food manufacturers to ask which of them use horse. And if they don’t? We’d like them to include a “horse safe” label on their packaging. Over 80% of horse owners also own dogs. To label your product “Horse Safe” is a tremendous marketing advantage.

Please help us to draw this attention to the pet food companies and sign our petition HERE. Please pass it on to your friends and spread the word. You can also find us on Facebook “Campaign for labelling of horse-free Pet Food“.
