Today we went to visit rescue horse, Lily, who was one of the horses we picked up at the Gympie ‘dogger’ auction. Lily was from a riding school, which had closed down. Instead of bothering to find homes for the horses, they were all trucked off to the meat works.
Lily now lives on many acres in Nanango. The whole family just adores Lily, and why wouldn’t they. She is sweet and quiet and a very practised riding school horse, used to whatever life throws her way. On the day we saw her, she had been in a bit of a scrape with one of the other horses on the property, but has put on weight, has been wormed, her feet have been attended to, and generally looks very happy and relieved to be in her lovely new home.
